Working as a mechanical automation and maintenance fitter, your job will include plant and machinery installation; maintenance and repairs; replacement of broken or working parts; adjustment; servicing and checking components; and equipment component replacement. It is also a fitter’s job to fabricate parts using machine tools.

To become an apprentice in Ireland you must be hired by an employer. Apprenticeship employers are formally approved by SOLAS in advance of employing apprentices. Apprentices get a formal contract of employment as part of their apprenticeship.
