Course Title: Master of Science in Creative Commercial Communications

Candidates applying for the MSc in Creative Commercial Communications (Top-Up) must hold a minimum second-class honours (2.2) in the PG Diploma in Creative Commercial Communications or the PG Diploma in Advertising and Digital Communications.

Applicants not meeting the normal entry requirements but with relevant prior experiential learning may be proposed by the Programme Director for exceptional entry by submitting an Exceptional Entry application to the sub-committee of College Board.

Note: Due to the considerable competition for our postgraduate courses satisfying the minimum entry requirement is not a guarantee of a place. Depending on the course of study applications will be assessed based on your academic grades and may also take into account your work/life experience. Applicants may also be required to attend for interview for specific courses.

The MSc in Creative Commercial Communications is the result of a unique partnership between TU Dublin and The Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI) and has been developed with extensive contributions from both industry and academia. It provides career focused continuous professional development for creative commercial communications professionals and aims to provide strategic, analytical and leadership skills informed by industry engagement.

This course is delivered over two semesters and comprises 30 ECTS credits of two modules, Business Research Methods (5 credits) and Creative Commercial Communications Consultancy Project.

TU335 Modules

The Business Research Methods module is designed to help you engage with the challenges of setting and developing research objectives, embarking on a research process, evaluating and selecting appropriate methodologies (including methods) and the arrival at a sound rigorous conclusion. It enables participants, through research skills development, to commence their independent research.

The Consultancy Project is an innovative and practical component of the course, which requires participants to complete a real-time project on behalf of a commercial communications agency. It is envisaged that most participants will complete a project on behalf of their own sponsoring organization. However, some participants may choose an organisation or industry sector that is relevant to the next stage in their career. You will work independently, with support from a practitioner mentor and an academic supervisor.

This programme is delivered over two semesters.  The Business Research Methods module is taught in the first semester, where lectures take place online in the evening. The second aspect of the course is the Consultancy Project, which is self-directed with academic supervision and a mentor from industry guiding progress. The Consultancy Project brings learning together in a meaningful way while giving the student the opportunity to conduct individual research, which is specialised in nature and can be customised. It is the key programme component enabling students to realise a significant piece of individual research.
