What is undergraduate study?
An undergraduate student could be defined as any person who is undertaking a course from Level 6 Higher Certificate up to Level 8 Honours Degree. In most cases, an undergraduate degree course will usually take three to four years to complete. An undergraduate student will initially engage with the fundamentals of their chosen study area. They will build upon this knowledge in subsequent years, gaining practical skills that are applicable to real-life scenarios in industry. Many undergraduate courses will incorporate work placement and/or study abroad opportunities giving students the skills and experience that future employers will require. Some graduates may decide to progress on to further study at Level 9. This is called "Postgraduate" study and at TU Dublin we offer a broad range of Postgraduate courses which will allow our graduates to specialise in their chosen field of study.
