Students Participate in ISA - SAIT Student Games in Calgary, Canada

Cormac O’Neill, a student of the BSc in Process Instrumentation and Automation at TU Dublin, travelled to Calgary in Canada in March 2024 to compete in the ISA – SAIT Student Games.

The games are hosted annually by the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and organised and run by the International Society of Automation (ISA) student section of SAIT. The trip was sponsored by the Ireland section of the ISA and proudly supported by the TU Dublin student section of ISA.

Cormac traveled with three other students representing SETU, MTU and UCC and during the event, competed in a range of Instrumentation and Automation challenges in the areas of: Gas Analysers, Flowmeters, SCADA, Distributed Control Systems and Process Loop Tuning.

In addition to the competitive aspects of the event, Cormac and his fellow participants made connections and friendships that will last long into the future They also enjoyed a number of social/networking events and a memorable trip to the beautiful Banff National Park in the Alberta Rockies.

Cormac is currently completing his third and final work placement with Lotus Works as part of his degree and is on course to complete his studies at the end of August. He is a fantastic ambassador for the Process Instrumentation and Automation programme, and he did TU Dublin, Lotus Works and ISA Ireland proud through his participation in the games.
